Yes, we are lucky to enjoy this view but as Kyle can relate there was a lot of hard physical work that occurred in the past to create this view. I walk Agana Beach, in Guam most evenings and have collected many images of our beautiful sunsets. I have been looking for options to reproduce some of these gorgeous pictures into other formats for quite a while. I considered printing on metal or glass, but I really wanted something stylized, something unique and more personal, still an accurate portrayal, but not another example of digitally manipulated perfection.
When I saw Nozomi’s paintings, which reminded me of the Japanese Ukiyo-e style, which I love, we commissioned a single painting. My husband and I were so impressed with the way Nozomi so perfectly captured the sunset picture we sent, that we asked her to paint a set of four of my most difficult shots of the “green flash” phenomenon on the horizon of the Pacific Ocean as the sun sets beneath the waves.
She was able to take my shots and make them so much better than anything I thought possible, capturing the essence of the green flash on all its multi-colored glory, blending the beauty of the original images into the perfect piece of art.
Nozomi is incredibly willing to work with you even when you are a neurotic perfectionist. Every time I look at the paintings, I am reminded again how incredibly talented she is, and I cannot recommend her more strongly. I look forward to seeing how her art grows and hope to purchase more from her in the future.

Nozomi’s art has been a constant source of joy for me these days. The bookmark she painted accompanies me on my travels through the winding worlds of fiction and poetry, marking my place with the lovely image of plants and sky. I have also sent several postcards with printings of her work to friends overseas and they have all commented on how vibrant the colors are and how alive the work feels.
Beyond this, I was lucky enough to attend and film her exhibition this past autumn. I loved the chance to talk with her about the courage and tenacity it took to mount the exhibit as well as the joy she felt from being able to share her work with others. I look forward to seeing what she creates in the future and one day commission a custom piece from her myself… as soon as I can figure out what I would like her to paint!
